Prof. Dr. Capt. Eddy Sumartono Delivers Message of Unity on the Commemoration of the Birth of Prophet Muhammad:
“Let Us Stay Patient, Wise, and Give
President Prabowo the Opportunity to Lead Indonesia Well”
Jakarta
– In commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW, a distinguished
maritime figure and academic, Prof. Dr. Capt. Eddy Sumartono, SH, LL.M,
M.Mar, MBA, DBA, Ph.D, shared a heartfelt message with the people of
Indonesia.
In his remarks, Prof. Eddy urged the
nation to use this sacred moment as an inspiration to cultivate patience,
wisdom, and unity amidst the ongoing social and political dynamics, including
demonstrations in several regions.
“The commemoration of the Prophet’s
birth is the perfect moment to reflect on his noble character. We are taught to
be patient, to act wisely, and to uphold unity above all else. Indonesia is our
common home. Do not let political differences or the poison of hoaxes damage
the brotherhood that binds us as one nation,” said Prof. Eddy with
conviction.
Maulid Nabi: A Moment to Emulate the
Noble Character of the Prophet
For Muslims worldwide, the celebration
of Maulid Nabi is not only about honoring the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW but
also about reflecting on his exemplary life. For Prof. Eddy, the Prophet’s
values of compassion, justice, and wisdom must guide Indonesians in facing
today’s challenges.
“Prophet Muhammad was a unifier. He
brought together diverse tribes in Arabia under one vision of peace and
brotherhood. Likewise, we, as Indonesians, must continue to strengthen our
unity in the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika – Unity in Diversity,”
he emphasized.
According to him, the commemoration of
Maulid Nabi should not remain ceremonial. Instead, it must inspire daily
actions—restraining anger, rejecting divisions, and respecting differences.
A Call for Patience and Wisdom Amid
Demonstrations
Recent demonstrations across Indonesia
have drawn attention due to tensions and provocations. Prof. Eddy responded
with a calm and constructive appeal, especially to the younger generation,
urging them to exercise patience and wisdom in expressing their voices.
“Demonstrations are part of
democracy, but they must not harm our brotherhood. Expressing aspirations is
important, but let it be done peacefully, respectfully, and with dignity. Do
not allow the movement of the people to be hijacked by those who seek division,”
he stated.
Prof. Eddy further stressed that
Indonesia is in an important transitional phase. The newly inaugurated
President, H. Prabowo Subianto, deserves the opportunity to lead and implement
his vision for the nation.
“President Prabowo is one of the
nation’s finest sons, dedicating his life to Indonesia. Let us support him with
prayers and real actions. Do not be quick to judge, but allow him to prove his
commitment to the people,” he urged.
Rejecting Hoaxes, Preserving Public
Sanity
In addition to calling for patience,
Prof. Eddy highlighted the dangers of hoaxes spreading widely through social
media. He warned that misinformation is a toxic weapon that can divide the
nation if not addressed wisely.
“Hoaxes are poison to the mind.
Once consumed, they breed hatred, suspicion, and hostility. Do not be easily
provoked. Always verify before sharing information. Social media should be a
tool for strengthening brotherhood, not destroying it,” he emphasized.
He reminded the public that history
has shown how division often begins with false narratives and provocations.
Therefore, critical thinking and digital literacy must become a collective
priority.
Nationalism and Patriotism: Indonesia
is Our Home
Prof. Eddy passionately reminded
citizens that Indonesia is a shared home that must be safeguarded together.
“Do not let love for the homeland
fade simply because of political differences. We are brothers and sisters,
bound by the red and white flag that belongs to all. Let us build this nation
with gotong royong (mutual cooperation), optimism, and unwavering
nationalism,” he said.
He pointed out that Indonesia has
always risen from crises—colonial struggles, economic crises, even the global
pandemic—because of the people’s unity. “Today too, we will overcome
challenges if we remain united,” he added.
Prof. Eddy: Academic, Leader, and
National Role Model
Prof. Eddy is widely respected not
only as a maritime expert and professor but also as a moral compass and
motivator for younger generations. His consistent messages of unity, integrity,
and leadership resonate deeply with the public.
“Every Indonesian has a role to
play. Nothing is too small when it comes to building our country. Begin with
simple things—protecting your family, caring for your community, working
honestly, and spreading kindness. This is how we emulate the Prophet’s teachings
in today’s modern context,” he said.
Hopes for Indonesia Under President
Prabowo’s Leadership
In his closing remarks, Prof. Eddy
expressed optimism and prayers for President Prabowo’s leadership.
“I believe he will guide Indonesia
toward a new era of strength and prosperity. President Prabowo is a leader of
discipline, vision, and dedication. It is our duty as citizens to support him
through prayers, positive actions, and unity. Let us not allow any group to
disturb national stability,” he emphasized.
He also reminded that national
progress does not rest solely on the president’s shoulders but also depends on
the active participation of all citizens. Unity and collaboration will
accelerate Indonesia’s journey toward greatness.
Closing Reflections: Time to Rise
Together
Prof. Eddy concluded with a powerful
message for the nation:
“We are a great nation. Do not let
provocations divide us. Do not let hoaxes poison us. Do not let anger control
us. Let us be patient, wise, and united. With the spirit of Maulid Nabi, let us
build Indonesia as a land of peace, justice, and prosperity. Together with
President Prabowo, let us embrace a brighter future,” he said.
Analysis and Reflection
Prof. Eddy’s message resonates beyond
the commemoration of Maulid Nabi—it offers timeless wisdom for Indonesia’s
journey forward. His call for patience, wisdom, rejecting hoaxes, and
preserving unity represents essential pillars of nation-building.
In a time of political dynamics,
shifting aspirations, and social challenges amplified by the digital age, his
voice serves as a reminder that Indonesia’s greatest strength lies in unity.
With his nationalist spirit and vision of hope, Prof. Eddy inspires Indonesians
to remain positive and constructive as the country steps into a new chapter
under President Prabowo’s leadership.
